Elizabeth Tyler was born in England and educated at art college there. She now lives in Sweden but spends several months a year painting on her small sailboat somewhere in the Mediterranean. She has been a professional artist for four decades and exhibits her works regularly at galleries and art museums in Sweden, Denmark and Finland. Apart from acrylics she works with water colour, etching, engraving and lithography.
Elizabeth Tyler’s painting style is hyper realistic and she often chooses her subject matter from a small part of nature, not a whole landscape. Fast drying acrylics and acrylic mediums suit her way of working well, both in the studio and when working outdoors on location. The technique she uses in the video is called Grisaille, a method of painting in which full modelling is done in black and white (in this case Paynes grey) and then finished by adding transparent glazes in colour.
I found your video so refreshing and also enlightening,I have learnt so much in 3minutes -Thank you. Beautiful rhythm and fab tones.
An inspiring and informative video. The finished painting is so textural, beautifully formed and wonderful tones. I loved it !!!!
I love the hair drier creating the ripples and caturing the feeling of moving water in the comfort of the studio setting. I just love the final results!! Makes me want to go buy acrylics to see what I can do with something other than watercolor.

Stunning! What an inspiration! I was truly amazed to see what can be achieved using different techniques that i never thought of.
